The National Hockey League (NHL) is an unincorporated not-for-profit association which operates a major professional ice hockey league of 30 franchised member clubs of which 7 are currently located in Canada and 23 in the United States. Headquartered in New York City, the NHL is widely considered to be the premier professional ice hockey league in the world. The Stanley Cup, the oldest professional sports trophy in North America, is awarded annually to the league playoff champion at the end of each season.
National Basketball Association
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball league in North America. It consists of 30 franchised member clubs, of which 29 are located in the United States and 1 in Canada. The league's several international as well as individual team offices are directed out of its head offices located in New York City. It is an active member of USA Basketball (USAB), which is recognized by the International Basketball Federation as the National Governing Body (NGB) for basketball in the United States. The NBA is one of the four major North American professional sports leagues.
Major League Baseball (MLB) is the highest level of professional baseball in North America, consisting of 29 teams in the United States and 1 team in Canada that play in the National League and the American League. The two leagues merged in 2000 into a single MLB organization led by the Commissioner of Baseball after 100 years as separate legal entities. MLB has its head office in New York City. With the International Baseball Federation, MLB also manages the World Baseball Classic.
Hockey Canada, formally known as the Canadian Hockey Association, is the national governing body of ice hockey in Canada and is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. Hockey Canada controls a vast majority of ice hockey in Canada, with a few exceptions. It is based in Calgary, Alberta with a secondary office in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Collegiate Licensing Company
The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) is an American collegiate trademark licensing and marketing company. Founded in 1981 in Selma, Alabama, CLC is the largest and oldest collegiate licensing company in the United States and currently provides its services to more than 200 colleges and universities, athletic conferences, bowl games, the Heisman Trophy, and the NCAA. Recently acquired by IMG and headquartered in Atlanta, the company also operates in San Francisco and satellite offices in Arizona, Kansas, Montana, and Ohio.
The Licensing Resource Group (LRG) provides collegiate licensing in the USA. Founded in May of 1991 by individuals who combined their experience from different parts of the licensing industry, LRG brought many new concepts to the forefront of the licensing industry and made them successful. LRG is headquartered in Holland, Michigan.
